Abul Kalam Azad

Abul Kalam Azad is a Bangladeshi businessman, founder and managing director of Azad Products, who was the president of the Bangladesh Printing Product Association.

Early Life:
Azad was born in Chandpur District and raised in Shariatpur District. He worked in Dhaka as a lodging tutor.

Career:
In 1982, Azad began selling posters on the streets, eventually founding Azad Products. He expanded by importing posters of popular TV shows and footballers from Singapore. In the 1990s, he began using local celebrities and built the Azad Centre in Paltan with his earnings. He later diversified into greeting cards and calendars and became president of the Bangladesh Printing Product Association. Azad Products grew with branches across the country, and he also introduced the Ratnagarva award to honor exceptional mothers. In 2006, Banglalink featured his life story in a TV ad. His business suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic due to falling demand and store closures.

Controversy:
On 29 August 2009, Azad was arrested following allegations of assault by a CID inspector seeking a job for his brother. He was remanded for one day, but his company denied the accusations.
