Bajloor Rashid

Bajloor Rashid, MBE (Bengali: বজলুর রশিদ; born 28 May 1962) is a Bangladeshi-born British restaurateur, philanthropist and humanitarian. From 2006 to 2012, he was the president for the Bangladesh Caterers Association UK.

Early Life:
Bajloor Rashid was born in Balikandi, Moulvibazar, Sylhet (then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh). He moved to the UK in 1978 for education.

Business Career:
He opened his first restaurant, Curry Garden, in Dover in 1980 and later expanded with several restaurants across Kent and London. This success led to his involvement with the Bangladesh Caterers Association UK (BCA). He also ventured into property investment and wholesale rice and spice trading.
Rashid served as National President of the BCA (2006–2012), where he launched the BCA Awards, gaining industry recognition. He played a key role in the 2008 Trafalgar Square demonstration addressing immigration issues for the curry industry, which led to a House of Commons debate.
He worked with government bodies and held senior roles, including as director of 20 companies and a senior figure in the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
In 2013, he became Chairman of Progressive Life Insurance Company. In 2014, he founded the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI), serving as its President until 2020 and currently sits as a Director. He also established the UKBCCI Business & Entrepreneur Excellence Awards in 2016.

Community Activities:
Rashid has supported communities affected by global natural disasters, including Cyclone Sidr, and is active in multiple community organizations.
